Changing your password in WordPress is very easy and can be done within your own account settings page, you don’t need to email a webmaster to change your password.

Step 1

Login to your site with your current password and login details, if you aren’t sure what they are click ‘Forgot password’ below the login form. Once logged in click your user icon in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard or hover and click your username. This will take you to your profile settings.

Scroll down to the section titled ‘Account Management’, here you will see a button ‘Generate Password’. Click this and a password will be generated for you, if you don’t want to use this password then simply type your own password in the password field.

When typing your password be sure to use a password that is strong to ensure that your WordPress site is secure from low-level brute force attempts. Once you have entered your new password scroll to the bottom of the page and click save.

You have just changed your password, be sure to keep a safe record of your password if you use the automatically generated password.
